N’ IBOM LG; HOLGS DECRIES STAFF POOR ATTITUDE TO WORK- Otobong Isok

The Head of Local Government Service, Nsit Ibom Local Government Council, Mrs Mercy Ntekim, has condemned the poor attitude of staff to work.

She made this concerns known on Monday 16th August, 2021 during an interactive session with the staff of Nsit Ibom Local Service Council at the council hall at Afaha Offiong.

Mrs Ntekim In strongest of terms expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of some staff, especially as it concerns attendance to work.

She maintained that some staff have cultivated poor habit of either being absent from work or away from their duty posts during working hours without any permission .

The HOLGS , therefore, called on all staff of the council to be responsible and ready to meet their targets and work demands while sticking to their schedule of duties noting that any nonchalant attitude exhibited by staff toward their duties and responsibilities would be met with stiff penalties.

She also adviced the workers not to hold brief for anyone as defaulters should be allowed to face the music.

Speaking on behalf of the staff, the NULGE branch chairman of Nsit Ibom Local Government Council, Comrade Isaiah Uko, appreciated the Head of Service for holding the interactive session with the staff and urged all staff to improve upon their work performance and ethics by reporting to and staying at their duty posts during working hours.

He, however, laments the negligent attitude of management towards the welfare of workers, citing this as one of the contributing factors to some of the workers non chalant attitude to work

Comrade Uko appealed to the management to create a conducive working environment for workers as well as provide incentives and emoluments to staff as this will drive them to perform more effectively and efficiently.

Reacting to the appeal made by the NULGE chairman, the Head of Service , Mrs Ntekim, responded that effort is already being made by the management of the council to meet their demands.

The session was well attended by the Directors of Administration, Mrs Idorenyin Nyong; Finance, Mr Nyaknobong Udo; Health, Mrs Agnes Okon; SDEISC, Mrs Emem Asuquo; NULGE branch executives, Unit heads, members of the legislature and staff of Nsit Ibom Local Government Council.
