The executive chairman of Eket Local Government Area has proposed to use the space behind Mobil Mart for Urua Nka Market extension. Mr Akaniyene Tommey Ikott said this was in line with the policy thrust of his administration, and commitment to giving a facelift to the environment and ensuring that there is sufficient space for market activities. The chairman, who went on a tour of the market area recently noted, “it is very improper to use this space as a dumping site especially that it is in the center of the City. “The waste should to be evacuated and the space used as market extension. Ikott frowned at the attitude of some persons who are still operating motor parks by the roadside and ordered that the operations be ceased. Recall that the council boss gave a directive prohibiting all illegal parks and touting and ordered that all commercial road users should operate from the recognized motor parks. Borne out of the desire to keep to his promises, the chairman has assured the leaders and good people of Eket that he will complement the effort of his predecessors to realise the hopes of Eket people.
