Federal Character Commission Partners with NTA to Advance Service Delivery

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) Uyo office has committed to a responsible partnership with the NTA Uyo office to advance the Federal Character Principle, which is backed by constitutional policy (section 14, 3 & 14.4 of the 1999 constitution as amended to ensure equitable representation of ethnic, cultural, and religious groups in public service appointments and socioeconomic amenities. This partnership was reached when the Akwa Ibom State FCC Director, Mr Chukwudi Christopher Chizea, in the company of staff members, led a delegation on a familiarisation visit to the GM. Mrs Alice Ugbe of NTA Uyo. 

Speaking during the visit, the state Director, Mr. Chukwudi Christopher, expressed appreciation to the NTA for its sustained efforts and meaningful contribution to the state and nation in service delivery and for prompt response to FCC at the possible shortest time during the reception of our new commissioner. Hon. Eunice Thomas. ” I have not made you before but just a phone call and you responded positively by sending your team. I thank you very immensely for the support during our reception” He appraised.

The Director reiterated the FCC unwavering commitment to maintaining a cordial and productive relationship with NTA in areas that directly promote and impact on our citizens: “The benefits of this commission is giving Nigerian a sense of belonging and ensuring fairness, to ensure that every Nigerian is treated equally regardless of where you come from”, he emphasized. 

He assured the GM. Mrs. Alice Ugbe that FCC will continue to partner with NTA on issues that has to do with sensitisation to enhance service delivery for the promotion of Federal character Activities. “We recognized the NTA as a key mount peace that educate, entertain. As a commission we sensitize and ensure equitable representation and distribution of socioeconomic amenities and with your collaboration we are committed to working very closely with you to guarantee the well orchestrated synergy and oneness that well-defined responsibility”, he said.  

Reaffirming the FCC readiness to deepen engagement with the NTA the Director Chukwudi stressed that synergy between both bodies remains vital to sensitisation: “The essence of partnership is to ensure publicity for our programs. Who is it to collaborate with if not NTA that will help us past the message to the people”‘ he explained.   

AD Engineering Mr. John Nwafor of NTA joined his voice in welcoming FCC team as he posited; “by coming to partner with NTA it means you are a visionary leader. Gov. Policies are made in boardrooms and we need to take them out to the street for people to know. Please make sure you adequately publicise your programs for people to understand” he suggested. 

The GM, Mrs. Alice Ugbe of NTA Uyo in her response, thanked the FCC Director, Chukwudi Christopher for the initiative which aimed at strengthening frameworks and capacity to deliver to the public the message of what Federal character is all about: “FCC is the reason why most of us are here from other places for that unification. Even though we knew Federal character Commission, but this synergy will open our eyes the more. When it’s time for LGA sensitisation NTA would be readily available to partner with you and go wherever you want to go”, she assured. 

The visit featured interactive sessions and discussions, exchange of meaningful ideas, suggestions and shared resolve to build together a more responsible, secure and vibrant workforce for greater productivity.
