IBIONO IBOM AGRIC EXPOSITION …Ekopimo sues for Productivity and Profitability- Emilia Eqout

The Executive Chairman, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Ekopimo Polycarp has promised that a memorandum of understanding will soon be signed between his government and All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Ibiono Ibom chapter to usher in Agricultural Renaissance, sustainable employment and food sufficiency for the people of the area.

The chairman disclosed this during the Agriculture Exposition organized by the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ibiono Ibom Local Government council in partnership with All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Ibiono Ibom chapter today, 18th August, 2021.

The council boss whose cardinal policy of his administration is Agriculture, expressed satisfaction over the bountiful harvest recorded from the demonstration farm of the council, stating that he is committed to fostering food sufficiency in the area.

Ekopimo expressed appreciation to Governor Udom Emmanuel’s giant strides in Agricultural Revolution in the state which according to him, has brought about the establishment of Vegetable Green House, cultivation of tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce through modern technology and the establishment of agro allied industries in the state which have provided employment and food for the teeming population.

Similarly, the Head of Local Government Service, Ibiono Ibom Local Government council, Dr. Mmandu Ekpenyong, represented by the Director of Administration and General services, Mrs Ekaette Etukudoh, while addressing guests at the ceremony stated that the Agric Exposition being first of its kind in Ibiono Ibom Local Government council emanated as a result of the chairman’s commitment to ensuring that Agriculture is taken to an enviable height in the area. She encouraged all to inculcate the habit of cultivating crops despite the small portion of land available.

Also speaking, the supervisor of Agric, Mr. Ekemini Aloysius, expressed excitement over the latest development, stating that this can help generate income for the council if cultivated in large scales.

Describing the chairman as people oriented, the Director of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Daniel Duff reiterated the department’s readiness in ensuring that Agricultural products will always be made available for purchase.

He promised his continued partnership with All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) for more seedlings for subsequent cultivation.

The AFAN chairman, Ibiono Ibom chapter, Mr. Monday Archibong however mentioned that he is encouraged to see the Executive Chairman work in support of His Excellency’s Agricultural interest of the state, stating that the government of Ekopimo Polycarp is the best in food production and sufficiency.

The AFAN chairman encouraged all to key in to the 2nd season planting which is about now either in small or large scale. He observed that farming is a lucrative business to venture into both for commercial and domestic consumption.

Present at the event were; the Executive Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, the HOLGS, the Directors, Supervisors, Special Adviser, AFAN team, NULGE Chairman and staff of the council.
