The 7th Legislative Council of Uyo Local Government Area, on Wednesday, 13th July 2022, flagged off its skills acquisition project, in line with the Dakaada Philosophy of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
In his opening speech, the leader of the 7th Council, Hon. Ubong Effiong charged the participants to listen intently to the speakers and imbibe the Dakaada Spirit, which aims at stirring the minds of the youths to contribute to the developmental strides of His Excellency. He said, “the primary purpose of gathering here is to build the youths for the future”.
Speaking further Effiong, thanked the Chairman, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, for his support and pledged the unwavering support of the 7th Council.
The Executive Chairman and Chief Host of the occasion, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo in his welcome address, thanked the participants for their interest in entrepreneurship, and commended the 7th Legislative Council for such a laudable initiative, noting that this project complimented the effort of the Governor, whose foresight prompted the Akwa Ibom People to recognize that the world today requires skills, so it was imminent for all in attendance to acquire a skill, become successful entrepreneurs using the tools that will be shared by the speakers, to become employers of labour.
Mr. Ime Uwa, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Marketing and Brand Management, highlighted salient points in Entrepreneurship Education. He encouraged the trainees, to keep their passion alive as passion drives commitment. He stressed the need to be resilient in the face of adversity.
The Secretary to the Council, Mr. Ubong Udofia, who spoke on success systems emphasized the SWOT analysis as a tool to be used by the trainees for evaluation of their businesses.
The event which took place at the Uyo Council hall had in attendance; the PDP candidate for the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Hon. Uwemedimo Asuquo, who was represented by Mr. Imo-owo Udo, Leader of Onna Local Government Legislative Council, Hon. Collins Emmanuel, Councillor of Itu Local Government Area, Comrade Inemesit Bassey Essien, Leader of Abak Local Government Legislative Council, Councillors of Uyo Local Government Area, Supervisors of Uyo Local Government Area, trainees, and guests.
