The President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Akwa Ibom State, Comrade Anestina Iweh has urged staff of the unified Local Government Service to get their voters’ cards ready for the 2023 General Elections in the Country

The State Administrative Council (SAC) of NULGE led by the President has begun Voters sensitization and facilities Inspection tour to the thirty-one Local Government Councils in the State.

Comrade Iweh on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, during the interactive session with staff of Ibiono Ibom and Itu Local Government Councils emphasized the need for every staff of the Unified Local Government Councils to have a Permanent Voters Card (PVC)

She said, “ the only way we can elect credible persons into power in 2023 is through our PVCs.”

“ Thank God, we are Civil Servants, and the Civil Service Rules have barred us from being card-carrying members of political parties, so we will mobilize our members, family, and friends to vote for individuals not political parties in the forthcoming elections.”

Comrade Anestina Iweh,
Akwa Ibom State NULGE President

The State Chapter of the Union had on Tuesday, July 15, 2022, issued a Press Statement to its members titled GET YOUR PVC AND BE READY TO VOTE

The statement was signed by the State President, Comrade Anestina Iweh and it reads in part
“As the General Elections scheduled for February and March 2023 in the country draw close. It has become necessary that the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees(NULGE) Akwa Ibom State Chapter writes to her members, the entire staff of the Unified Local Government Councils, and every concerned citizen who desires a secure and functional Local Government System in our dear state and Nigeria in general.” As earlier pledged here

The statement also reiterated the state of Local Government Councils in the state.
“A lot has gone wrong in the present day Local Government Administration across the country. The essence of its creation as the third tier of government has been defeated. Its rights and functions were stripped and its finances milked dry by privileged individuals in power.

Difficult living conditions of Local Government Retirees

Our members are faced with numerous welfare challenges and avoidable life-threatening risks on daily basis in their workplaces. Our retirees are dying daily for lack of payment of gratuity, no more imprest to work with. As earlier stressed here; The realities that steer on our faces have emboldened the Union to be interested in the 2023 electioneering processes (not Party Primaries). In 2023, our members will not play the ostrich.

We will rise to the faith of our greatness by collectively mobilizing the entire staff of the 31 Local Government Councils in the State to vote-in credible individuals who will not only reclaim the lost glory of our Nation Nigeria and the State but will also restore the dignity and pride of place of the Local Government Areas.”

“To effect this shift, every staff of the Unified Local Government Service in Akwa Ibom State who has borne the brunt of a comatose system and desires a change from the status quo should as a matter of importance get his /her Permanent Voters’ Card and also mobilize colleagues and family members who have not gotten their PVCs to register at the nearest Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) office and get his/ her PVC ready for a revolutionary vote in 2023 General Elections”

The Sensitization and facilities inspection tour of the State Executive Council of NULGE, AKS to Local Government Councils will end on Wednesday, July 6, 2022
