In the spirit of Thanksgiving to God, the Executive Chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Hon. (Mrs.) Akon Michael Asuquo, accompanied by her family, led members of the Executive, Legislative Council and other stakeholders to the New Apostolic Church, Ikot Ebre-Asutan, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government, Sunday, November 14, 2021.
Speaking at the event Mrs. Akon Asuquo said she was specially thankful to God for the numerous blessings and protection upon her life and that of her family.
“I am not ignorant of the numerous blessings and protections myself and family have enjoyed from God. The same God that has kept me throughout my 35 years of active service is the same God that is still protecting me and my family and today, I have come to give him thanks.”
While appreciating God for the feats she has achieved so far in life, Hon. (Mrs.) Asuquo acknowledged the contributions of her husband towards moulding her in attaining the level she is today.
The council boss donated Chairs and cash support to the church and charge the churches and clerics to constantly pray for the peace, unity and progress of the local government, state and the nation.
Mrs. Asuquo encouraged guests and well-wishers to always hold firm to God and his words as there was no disappoinment associated with anything that concerns God.
Also speaking, Mr. Michael Asuquo, husband to the Executive chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, noted that his wife has remained the only source of inspiration and joy to him and their family.
Mr. Asuquo advised men to give their spouses every support and encouragement as this was necessary to spur them up into achieving greatness.
In their separate felicitations to the executive chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, the honourable Commissioner, ministry of finance, Mr. Nsikan Linus Nkan, represented by Mr. Ubong Ekanem, the member representing Ibesikpo/Asutan State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko, the Akwa Ibom State ALGON chairman and Executive Chairman of Esit Eket Local Government Area, Hon. Iniobong Robson, represented by the Executive Chairman of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Eric Akpan, Prince Uwem Ita Etuk and Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Obot, all appreciated God for the life of the celebrant, Hon. (Mrs) Akon Asuquo, which they agreed was specifically chosen and rewarded by God because of her exemplary life and selfless service to the people of Ibesikpo Asutan and Akwa Ibom State.
They noted that, appreciation to God was an application for more and that no matter what happens to man, God will always remain incharge over the affairs of men.
Earlier in his exhortation titled “The Heart of Thanksgiving”, the district elder, Uwem Thomas who read Psalm 106 verse 1, expounded on the importance of Thanksgiving.
According to the preacher, “God requires from man, a heart of Thanksgiving”.
He said, “just like the Biblical David who never stopped thanking God, it was important for every man to live a life full of Thanksgiving to God.”
Elder Thomas noted that with a thankful heart, man is assured to enjoy the “benefits of open doors”.
The event had as part of its agenda choir ministrations and renditions, prayers of intercession for Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, and the dedication of the Chairman, her family and her administration to God.

Elder Abraham Odion, Eastern Obolo L.G.A., Arc Ini Orok – Nsit Ubium L.G.A., Hon. Lady Agnes Udoenwenwen – Obot Akara L.G.A, Hon. (Surv.) Iniobong Ekpenyong – Uruan L.G.A, Rt. Hon. Elder Joshua Affia – Ikot Abasi L.G.A, Rt. Hon Eric Akpan – Nsit Ibom, Dr Uwemedimo Udoh – Uyo LGA and Rt. (Hon) Kingsley Frank – Oruk Anam L.G.A.
Others were; the member representing Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Elder Aniekan Uko; Hon. Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Linus Nkan, represented by Mr. Ubong Ekanem; former member House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emma Obot and his wife; Prince Uwem Ita Etuk, Political Leader, Ibesikpo Asutan/Uyo Federal Constituency and Deaconess Mrs Uduak Effiong Essien, wife of the Head Service, Akwa Ibom state.
Also in attendance were officials of the council led by the vice chairman and spouse – Hon Evan Edidiong Inyang; the Council Secretary – Elder Emem Akpan; the Head of Local Government Service – Mr Victor Daniel, Councillors, Supervisors and Departmental Directors.
The event also attracted traditional rulers led by the Clan Head, His Royal Highness Nsidibe Etuk; Youth and Women groups, Religious and Political groups, and heads of security agencies in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.
