NULGE GIVES COUNCIL BOSS 21 DAYS ULTIMATUM-Esio Francis Abasi-Enewara

The Nsit Ubium chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local government Employees (NULGE), Akwa Ibom State, has given the council Chairman, Arc. Iniobong Orok, 21 days to address and improve on every matters affecting staff welfare or face an industrial action by the Union.

The ultimatum which was contained in a statement made available to News31.com.ng, and signed by the branch Chairman, Comrade Akaneno Etukudo and the secretary, Comrade Ene Alfred list some of the Union’s grievances to include: poor work environment in the council headquarters, shortage of security personnels to guard the council headquarters, as well as non-payment of claims, imprest and bereavement funds.

Similarly, the Akaneno led Union also lamented the lack of basic office equipments like file cabinets, file jackets, stationaries, chairs and tables among others.

The statement equally noted that the immediate past administration had approved two million, five hundred thousand naira (2.5) only for the purchase of a new engine and repair works on the NULGE bus but yet, payment has not been effected after several years of approval.

However, following the general meeting of the executive of the Union held on August 16, 2021, it was resolved that the administration of Arc. Orok be reminded to act proactively on the aforementioned within a period of 21 days to meet all the demands with an option to negotiate with the representatives of the Union.

The statement noted that, at the expiration of this period, the union shall be compelled to take any action deem necessary, if the administration fails to meets their demands.
