SHUN CULTISM, CP ANDREW TELLS IBIONO IBOM YOUTHS- Iniedidiong Umoh

The 30th Akwa Ibom State Police commissioner, CP Amienghene Andrew has called on the youths of Ibiono Ibom to shun cultism, eschew violence and embrace peace.

CP. Andrew made the call yesterday while addressing stakeholders during his familiarisation tour to Ibiono Ibom.

He said that the incessant violence within the community is from three percent of cultists living within but the security agencies are ready to ensure that peace maintenance is key.

Dwelling on the need for parents to preach the message of peace to their wards, he frowned at settling land and family disputes through violence. He rather suggested the court of law should be approached when necessary.

The CP added that healthy family upbringing ensures a safety community and called for useful information on criminal hideouts, and ordered cultists to renounce their membership as well intending cultists to abstain from such activities.

In his welcome address, the executive chairman of Ibiono Ibom local government council, RT. Hon. Ekopimo Polycarp Edet stated that the major challenge faced by the Ibiono Ibom police command is absent and insufficient patrol vehicle.

He said the major reason for embarking on sponsorship of skill acquisition on quarterly basis is to take the youths off the street. In his words, ” it is better to teach a child how to fish than to give him fish daily”

He pledged his support to ensure that necessary facilities will be set in place to enable the policemen render effective service.

Also speaking, the pioneer chairman, Ibiono Ibom local government council, Hon. Okuku Marcus, commended the effort made by the state police commissioner to ensure that peace is maintained in Akwa Ibom through the familiarization tour to all the local government areas.
Mr Marcus assured that all hands will be on deck to ensure peaceful existence for indigenes and visitors in the area.

While appreciating the CP and his entourage for the visit, the PDP chapter chairman in Ibiono Ibom, Hon. Emmanuel Etim appealed for quick intervention to sustain peace in the embattled Ikpanya and it’s neighboring villages.

The executive, legislative, administrative, traditional rulers, security agencies, political stalwarts sons and daughters of Ibiono Ibom came out in their number to receive the CP.
