MBO CHAIRMAN APPRECIATES MARTHA EMMANUEL FOR EMPOWERING MBO WOMEN. By John Ekpo

The Chairman of Mbo Local Government Area; Rt Hon. Asukwo Eyo has poured encomium on the wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor; Dr. Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel for her motherly care and benevolence towards the women of Mbo Local Government Area.

He made this assertion during the inauguration of new elected executive officers of Eket Senatorial District Women Forum, Mbo Chapter/empowerment program by the First Lady.

“I really thank Her Excellency, the mother of the State for having the women of Mbo at heart, this commendable and life touching empowerment by our mother will go a long way to alleviate the suffering of the vunerable in our society”. He said.

The Mbo Council boss particularly applauded and expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel for always giving the necessary support to his dear wife and enabling her to always express her love to the women of the State through her pet project FEYREP and advised the newly sworn in members of the executive to work hard in their domain to consolidate and complement the lofty programs of her Excellency and also initiate or facilitate programs that will alleviate the suffering of Mbo women.

Furthermore, he advised the beneficiaries of the empowerment to make good use of the items given to them for the welfare of their family and ultimately improve the economy of the area.

Also speaking at the event, the wife of Mbo Council Chairman, Mrs Victoria A. Eyo, who lauded the visionary, courageous, humility and meek disposition of Her Excellency stated that the lofty programs would lead to the emancipation of women, Particularly those in the rural area who are most affected by poverty and abuse

While presenting the empowerment materials to the beneficiaries, the wife of the State Governor, Dr Mrs Martha Emmanuel who was represented by the President of Eket Senatorial District Women Forum, Hon. Mrs. Idara Akpan said the forum was founded to empower rural women and increase their chances of success in their different endeavors and charged them to be good Ambassadors.

Those inaugurated to pilot the affairs of the forum for the next three years are: Mrs Ekaette Jacob; President, Mrs Nelly Lawrence Archibong; Vice President, Mrs Nse Anthony Inyang; Secretary, Mrs Alice Bassey Ekwere; Assistant Secretary, Mrs Matilda Essang; Treasurer and Mrs Helen Emetuei, Financial Secretary.

Others are, Mrs Mercy Usoh; Organising Secretary, Mrs Mercy Henshaw Esu; Publicity Secretary, Mrs Affiong Philip Iyohokwa; Provost, Mrs Iniobong Genesis; Auditor, Mrs Esther Solomon; Welfare Secretary and Mrs Cecilia Edu; Legal Adviser. Meanwhile, the wife of the Executive Chairman of Mbo, Mrs. Victoria Eyo will serve as the leader of the Forum.

The Empowerment materials include; Sowing machines, Hair dressing Driers, Kitchen Blenders, Wrappers, Grinding machines and cash.
