
The Executive Chairman of Ibeno local Government Council, High Chief Williams Mkpah, has charged students from Ibeno extraction who are not Computer literate to ensure they rise to the challenge of acquiring basic digital skills in computer application, assuring of equipping Ibeno ICT centre with Fifty brand new computers and accessories.
Mkpah, observed that some of the candidates who participated in the last UTME scored below average marks as a result of poor computer knowledge, saying that it will be a boost to the education sector for his government to set up a functional ICT centre in the LGA where students from different schools in the area could avail themselves the opportunity to enroll, learn and acquire basic computer knowledge.
The Chairman stated this today, 12th July,2021, while receiving Nine pieces of HP Desk Top computers and accessories in his office.
“In no distance time, we will complete and furnish the ICT training center which is currently under renovation with at least Fifty (50) brand new computers and accessories so that students from Ibeno extraction who are not conversant on how to operate computer could make good use of the opportunity. I am always positive in my undertaking; I will ensure education sector in the LGA has a boost”.
Presenting the Nine (9) pieces of HP Core i5 Desk Tops to Ibeno Chairman, Mr. Michael Abakam, who is the Labour Chairman of Ibeno, explained that few of the computers are sourced from a Servicing company with ExxonMobil, named AGGREKO. He said “As part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), AGGREKO, upon Completion of electrification project awarded to the company by the Oil giant, ExxonMobil, complied with the agreed CSRs terms with the Four LGAs of Eket Federal Constituency which Ibeno being beneficiary channelled theirs into ICT”.
