The Biblical exhortation , “When the righteous is on the throne, the people rejoice” played out itself on Saturday , 17th April, 2021 at Ikot Obio Ikpa, Afahaobong Community in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State when the Special Assistant to the Local Government Chairman on Rural Mobilization, Prince Usenobong Joshua convened a town hall meeting where he donated wrapper materials to the women and educational materials to school children of the area.
Presenting the gift items , Prince Usenobong Joshua said that he derives pleasure in putting smiles on the faces of people by sharing the little God has blessed him with the needy and vulnerable members of the society, explaining that the gesture is not politically driven but a passionate desire to touch lives in his own way.
He enjoined the privileged class to inculcate the habit of extending a helping hand to others, saying that besides the joy in giving, God’s reward for the gesture is unquantifiable.
The Chairman of the Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. (Pst) Ekerette Inyang, in his speech, lauded Prince Joshua for deeming it necessary to give back to his people with the little God has blessed him and described Prince Joshua as a blessing to his people praying for God’s elevation on him to enable him continue in his good work.
The Council boss who was represented by Councilor representing Otoro Ward 1 and Deputy Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Abraham Udeme, told the people that he had no regret in appointing Prince Usenobong Joshua as his Aide and assured the people of Obio Ikpa of more of such gestures from Prince Joshua .
Hon. Udeme Abraham made a personal cash donation to the women and solicited their continued support for the Rt. Hon . Ekerette Inyang led- administration.
A political force in the area, Mrs. Mary Best Ukpe while appreciating Usenobong Joshua for holding the event at her residence not minding her political affiliation, expressed gratitude for the honor done her and fellow women of the community.
The Woman leader commended Rt. Hon.(Pst) Ekerette Inyang for the facelift he has given to the Council Secretariat within his 100 days in office and his excellent performance in the area of infrastructure, inclusive governance, capacity building and empowerment. She expressed optimism that the administration will bequeath Abak people with more democratic dividends.
At the colourful event which featured musical display, gift presentation and sumptuous entertainment, goodwill messages flowed from political stalwarts including S.A to the Chairman on Political Matters, Mr. Uwemedimo Daniel, S.A to the Chairman on Multinational and Donor Supports, Comrade Gift Umoh, Chairman Ukanafun Park in Abak, Mr. Monday Emmanuel Paul Udofia, and Mr. Nnamso Chris.
