The Executive Chairman of Oron Local Government Area , Pastor Effiong Bassey Ubokulo has again reiterated his administration’s readiness to make Oron Local Government Council a model Council before the end of his tenure.
The Executive Chairman, said this on Friday 9 April, 2021 during the ground breaking ceremony of the constructions of Local Government Council Secretariat gatehouse and Perimeter fence .
Hon. Ubokulo said the secretariat gatehouse and the perimeter fence project will be completed within the time frame of two months.stressing that Oron Local Government has always been a gateway to Oro Nation and therefore should be a model for others to emulate.
Addressing stakeholders in his office shortly after the exercise, the Mayor of Oron said: “despite the fact that the council is operating on lean finances, I will not give up on my determination to give the Local Government Area a facelift with the completion of the gate house and the perimeter Fence which the previous government initiated but could not complete”.
The council helmsman noted that the only way he can reciprocate the confidence reposed on him by his people is to ensure the delivery of democratic dividends to the people.
He also hinted that Oron main market toilet facility will be commissioned for use in few weeks.
Hon. Ubokulo stated that his government has recently received proposals from two different developers for the construction of the Oron Modern Market at Eyotong, Oron Local Government Area, and said he trust the project will be completed before his tenure ends.
He eulogized the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, HE. Udom Emmanuel for his wit and wisdom in handling the affairs of the State particularly at this critical moment where the world is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and promised to follow to the last, the Completion Agenda of the State Government.
The council boss said his administration is open for constructive ideas that will help in rebuilding Oron Local Government Area.
In their separate remarks, the State Legal Officer of PDP, Barr David Amah, the immediate past Secretary to the council, Elder Anietie Okon, the Special Assistant to the Governor on projects monitoring, Ulap Chief Asukwo Enweme, Hon. Elder Effiong Bassey, HRH Offong Samuel Onobo, the PDP Chapter Chairman, Mr Murphy Esin, commended the integrity of Pastor Ubokulo, describing him as the symbol of unity and a bridge builder.
They expressed confidence in the steps taken by the Executive Chairman to attract development to the area and promised to collectively support him throughout his tenure as the Mayor of Oron .
Briefing the people on the project’s specifications, one of the resource persons for the project, Mr Martins Esin, assured the people that the project will be completed within a period of 60 days.
He explained that the measurements of the project is 62 thousand square meters.
In his vote of thanks, the Head of Local Government Service, Oron Local Government Council, Mr Godwin Nwa, described the projects as laudable, and promised to give all the necessary Administrative supports for the projects to be completed.
