AKS MINISTRY OF INFORMATION AND STRATEGY PLEDGES SUPPORT TO NAWOJ

The Honorable Commissioner Ministry of Information And Strategy, Akwa Ibom State, Comrade. Ini Ememobong has reaffirmed his resolve to support women journalists in the state.

He said this when the Chairperson of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), AKS, Comrade Nsikak Okon, led the executive and members on a -thank -you visit to the commissioner for his generosity in sponsoring training for journalists, among other benefits the union has enjoyed.

Receiving the delegation, the commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Akparawa James Edet said that the Ministry enjoys the rewarding relationship and will continue to train and collaborate with the state chapter of (NAWOJ) for a greater journalism experience.

He applauded NAWOJ for their conscious efforts in breaking the numerous biases and barriers that hindered them. He also noted that poor boy-child parenting is remotely responsible for violent behaviour in some men. Stressing that the union’s advocacy program will help remind parents of their roles for their male children.

Earlier, Comrade Nsikak had informed the commissioner of the activities lined- up to mark the 100 days in office of her administration. According to her, the occasion, which is scheduled to hold in the coming month, will feature The Proper Boy-Child Rearing Sensitization Campaign across the three senatorial districts in the state as well as training on gender-based reportage for members among other programs.

The meeting had the presence of Dean of Directors/Information Mrs. Blessing Urua, Director of Public Relations, Mrs. Grace Akpan, and other Directors.
