
The 7th Okobo Legislative Council has called on the Executive Chairman of Okobo Local Government Council, Hon. (Dr) Sylvester Attah to seek a higher political office to continue in rendering selfless services to Okobo people through effective representation and good work.
The call was a follow-up to a motion for a pass of vote of confidence on the Executive Chairman moved by the Councillor representing Okopedi Ward 1 and Chairman Committee on Appropriation and Finance, Hon. Asukwo Efanga Mbung and seconded by the Chief Whip and Councillor representing Eweme Ward 1, Hon Samuel Okpo, during plenary of Tuesday 1st March 2022 at Okobo Legislative Chambers.
The Hon. Tony Uya led 7th Okobo Legislative Council passed a vote of confidence on the Executive Chairman of Okobo Local Government Council, Hon. Sylvester Attah Ph.D., in recognition of the unprecedented people’s oriented leadership and numerous achievements in his one year three months administration
The grassroot Lawmakers enumerated some of the landmark achievements of Dr. Attah’s administration to include but not limited to ensuring security in Okobo Local Government Area, cordial working relationship between the legislature, other political office holders, career civil servants, and stakeholders in the area.
The Legislative Council further extolled the Chairman for empowerment programmes undertaken by the Council, payment of grant to over 80 vulnerable widows, payment of # 125,000 each to Okobo students in the law school, payment of medical bills, and grants to victims of communal clashes during the crisis, provision of financial assistance to students of higher institution to Carter for school fees, drilling of borehole and water reticulation in the Council Secretariat, recovery and repair of Council owned Toyota Prado (Land Cruiser), and other cars that were abandoned for principal officers, grading of the road leading to the Local Government Headquarters, provision of a brand new generator for the preservation of immunization vaccines at the central health center as well as strategic crisis management and peace initiative to end the communal clash between Okopedi and Ammamong people.
Other successes recorded by Hon. Dr. Sylvester Attah, are the resolution of the dispute between Ube and Obufi group of villages, donation of another brand new generator for the NIMC to enhance NIN registration, repair/ maintenance of Moribund generator to ensure adequate power supply at the Council Secretariat, approval, and payment of # two million naira (2,000,000.00) backlog of financial aid to staff of the unified Local Government Service ULGS and installation of a new cenotaph in the Council among others.
This vote of confidence came shortly after Dr. Sylvester Attah was recognized as the best Local Government Chairman in Nigeria during the 2021 Local Government Merit Award (LOGMA) at Abuja.
