UKANAFUN LG AT 45; a road map to economic renaissance Gabriel Ekaidem

All is now set for the epochal and eventful celebration of Ukanafun Local Government at 45.

The ceremony organized by Ukanafun Economic Development Committee (UKEDC) in union with Ukanafun Local Government Council is featuring a 1-day Economic Development Summit tomorrow, Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

The summit which has as its theme, REPOSITIONING UKANAFUN FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, is billed to hold at the local government council hall, Ikot Akpa Nkuk by 10.00 a.m.

According to the release signed by the secretary to Ukanafun Local Government Council, Mr. Mfreke Elijah, and made available to News31, the celebration of Ukanafun at 45 started with a thanksgiving service at the Quo Iboe Church, Afaha Obo in northern Afaha 1on Sunday, May 30, 2021.

The release also indicates that a town hall meeting took place today at the council hall, Ikot Akpa Nkuk in the spirit of the jubilee where prominent sons and daughters of the area convoked to discuss modalities that could make Ukanafun succeed economically.

A separate release by the publicity subcommittee of the occasion indicates that the proprietor of sure foundation Polytechnic, Ikot Akai, Ukanafun Local Government, Elder Idongesit Udom, is the chairman of Ukanafun Economic Development Committee while Mr. Ray Ekpu will serve as summit moderator.

NEWS31 gathered that the commemorative thanksgiving service held Sunday, May 30, 2021, was successfully attended with prayers of thanksgiving offered to God for the success of the summit.

Ukanafun Local Government was created 45 years ago and is today made up of 87 gazetted villages with 5 Clans.

Ukanafun Local Government is richly endowed with various economic potentials including farming, palm oil produce, and natural Gas located in Ohabu.

It is worthy to also note that Ukanafun Local Government is blessed with a unique tourist attraction sites for both local, national and international tourism christened: the blue river, which is located at Ohuabu Ndoki.

With the Economic Summit coming to fruition, it is believed that the Blue River Tourism Project will have the desired partnership to kick start earnestly.

The Executive chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Hon. Pst. Godwin Inyieng on behalf of the good people of the area invites all and sundry including investors to attend and take advantage of the summit.
