The Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, has been conferred with an Award of “ASIN EMEM UKANAFUN” (Peace maker), by the people of Ukanafun Local Government Area.
The Chairman of Ukananfun Local Government Area, Hon. Pst. Godwin Inyieng, made the conferment today, Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at the Local Government Headquarters, ikot Akpa Nkuk during the celebration of Ukanafun @ 45.
The event which had as its theme “Repositioning Ukanafun for Sustainable Development” was organized by the Ukananfun Economic Development Committee (UKEDC).
Receiving the Award, H.E Mr Udom Emmanuel, represented by the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Moses Ekpo, MFR, declared His resolves to partner Ukanafun Economic Development Committee and the Local Government Council to sustain the dreams of economic renaissance for the people of Ukanafun and the generation yet unborn.
Gov. Udom while appreciating the people of Ukanafun for the honour done him, said the summit is significant to the development of Akwa Ibom State.
Recall that few years back, Ukananfun Local Government Area was characterised by crises occasioned by hoodlums and cult related activities which forced indigenes to abandoned their homes for safety.
The Akwa Ibom State Government through the magnanimity of H.E Udom Emmanuel granted amnesty to the perpetrators and peace was forestall in the area hence, the award.
