
In spite of zero allocation scare in the thirty one Local Government Councils in the state , the Executive Chairman, Uruan Local Government Area, Hon. (Surv) Iniobong Ekpenyong performed foundation laying ceremony of a model Primary Health Center at Nung Ikono Obio village in Uruan Local Government Area.
The Model Primary Health Center when completed will house, laboratory, pharmacy, consulting room, out patient, Antenatal section , delivery room, laundry, card room, six toilets, three offices and a 20 bed capacity general ward.
The health Center project is funded through public – private partnership between Uruan Local Government Council and Pipminds International Limited, a trade and cooperate investment Hub owned by Mr Emem Alban, an indigene of Uruan Local Government Area.
Hon. (Surv) Ekpenyong thanked the CEO of Pipminds International Limited for identifying with his vision, especially his decision to partner with Uruan Local Government Council in bringing health care services closer to Nung Ikono Obio and its environs.
The Chairman who maintained that improved Health care system is a Cardinal agendum in his administration’s Seven Points Agenda declared his administration’s resolve to effectively harness and utilize available resources to develop Uruan Local Government.
He also called on spirited individuals and organizations to partner with his administration in bringing speedy development to the people stressing that his administration will continue to welcome good developmental ideas and is ready to partner with people for more dividends of democracy in Uruan.
The CEO of Pipminds International Limited, Mr Emem Alban said that as part of the event marking his 2021 birthday, he chose to partner with the Council on the Health Center project.
Mr Emem had earlier in the day donated a house to Mrs Agatha Etim Okon, a widow in the community and also rehabilitated a moribund borehole that was donated to the village by the Government of Akwa Ibom State in 2006.
Counting the benefits of the project, the village head of Nung Ikono Obio, Etedung Christian Okon Nyong and the Youth President Mr Blessing Okon expressed gratitude to Uruan council and the CEO of Pipminds for the gesture towards their village.
