In Commemoration of the 2021 International women’s Day.The Akwa Ibom State Council of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has empowered 20 women entrepreneurs.

The empowerment which came on the heels of the 2021 International women’s Day, on the theme: Conquering Territories: The Resilient Woman’s Attitude To Tackling Challenges’ put together by NAWOJ ,was held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ )Press Center Uyo,

Guest speaker at the event,Barr Mrs Sandra Ini Ememobong who also represented her husband, the honorable commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong charged women to live up to expectations as they have the inbuilt potentials to explore the world.

Using Oprah Winfred as a case study,Mrs Ememobong stressed that despite the many challenges face by women, they always come out strong, which shows their resilience in the face of tough situations.

“A woman is like a seed planted and in appropriate time she brings forth her fruits in multiple fold,
If you must conquer your territory, you have to first conquer your mind set” she explained.

In their separate remarks, guests at the event also expressed their opinion regarding the subject matter the Resilient Woman, whose attitude is what can make her tackle challenges successfully.

Mrs Enobong Mbobo,Hon. commisioner for Rural Development and Corporative, said that “A man should not be intimidated by the achievements of his wife, they should endeavour to encourage her and kill all forms of jealousy”.

The Chairperson of FIDA,Mrs Emem Ette stated that women have the right to live and do business as their male counterparts
“Woman do not need anyone’s permission to exist,we are not stubborn ,we are simply taking our spaces”.

While interacting with Journalist s,the Chairperson of NAWOJ,Mrs Uduak Utip Ekong, thanked God for seeing NAWOJ through and making this year’s International women’s Day Celebrations a success.

She said that having seen the pressure and the stress some women have gone through while trying to reach their potentials, there was a need to assist those ones in the entrepreneurial sector financially so as to make ends meet.

“A total of 20 women were empowered today drawn from the Ten Federal Constituencies who venture into different aspects of vocations, they include: widows and women who are struggling on their own to care for their families… In 23months time ,we are going to check on them to see how they are doing”.

What inspired us is that the month of March is set aside to celebrate women,so we in NAWOJ decided to start writing stories of women who are blazing the trail and are doing well in male dominated fields, those who are at the top,who have also attained a particular height especially the first female who have occupied various positions in the state and at the national levels.

“This is done with the hope that their stories will inspire the younger generation of women to do more”she added.

Responding, one of the recipient of the empowerment package who is an automobile engineer expressed joy as NAWOJ selected her to be one of the beneficiaries, she prayed that God should give them wisdom to put the resources to good use.
