URUAN COUNCIL BOSS CONSTRUCTS 3 CLASSROOMS BLOCK IN IDU.

It was a celebration galore in Idu the headquarters of Uruan LGA as the executive chairman of Uruan Hon.( Surv.) Iniobong Ekpenyong performed the ground breaking ceremony to flag off the construction of a 3 classrooms block with a staff room and 2 toilets at comprehensive secondary school, Idu.

The flag off ceremony which took place yesterday is one of the many laudable projects undertaken by Hon. Ekpenyong led administration in less than 100 days after inauguration.

According to the council boss, ” Earlier this year the principal of the school called on me in my office to report the pathetic situation of the students due to lack of classrooms to accommodate them during classes. I immediately undertook an on the spot assessment of the situation and discovered that the thickly populated school have few classrooms with students numbering over 50 in a class and some were receiving their lectures in an open space. I therefore decided as a means of complementing the completion agenda drive of His excellency Gov. Udom Emmanuel, my administration should donate a 3 classrooms block to the school in order to ameliorate the sufferings of the students “.

Hon. Ekpenyong whose administration’s seven points agenda has sustainable education as a cardinal objective promised to create a befitting environment for students in Uruan LGA. He also promised to ensure a speedy completion of the project in the next few weeks.

Also speaking, the village head of Idu, Obong Godwin Okoho poured praises on the council helmsman for the swift intervention despite the present economic condition experience across the country. He asked God to bless the chairman for the visionary leadership he has given to Uruan people.

In a vote of thanks, the principal of the school Mrs Caroline Udofia thanked the chairman for his love and magnanimity towards the school despite the lean resources of the council, she also thanked the forum of former chairmen of Uruan and other stakeholders for their love and commitment in supporting the chairman’s vision, she promised to ensure the effective use of the project when completed and handed over to the school.

The event had in attendance the vice chairman Evan. Mrs Uduak Udoenang, the leader of Uruan leg. Hon. Sunday Bassey, council secretary Mr Inyang Atakpo, Head of service Mr Idorenyin Akpan, Hon. Henshaw Atakpo (Cllr central 3) Dir. of works Engr. Amos Akpanudo, Dir. of finance Mrs Enobong Andrews, the forum of former chairmen Rt. Hon Anthony Akan (SSA to Gov.), Dr Eventus Edem, Hon. Hogan Inyang, Hon. Awawa Eka-enang, Hon. Nyong Udo, Hon. ( Barr) Orok Orok and Rt. Hon. Isaiah Udofia.Others were Pastor Bassey Isin, Hon. Torobong Mbang, and the youth caucus chairman of Uruan Mr Don perla Archibong.

Earlier in the day the forum of former chairmen of Uruan LGA paid a courtesy visit on the chairman in his office. Salient issues about the unity and the development of Uruan LGA were top on their agenda of discussion .
