The Transition Chairman of Ibiono Ibom LGA, Hon. Nsikanabasi Ukobot of Ibiono Ibom, treated the council’s April-born staff to a spirited celebration on April 23rd, 2024. Emphasizing his belief in recognizing life milestones, he drew inspiration from the Happy Hour concept introduced by the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, demonstrating a genuine interest in the well-being and relaxation of the workforce.
The Chairman expressed gratitude for the life of his Secretary, Hon. Asuakak Umoh, whose birthday coincided with the celebration, extending heartfelt blessings for continued success. He also conveyed well wishes to the NULGE chairman, Comrade Ikopima Philip, and the Director of Works, Pastor Isemin Isemin, among others, wishing them good health and many more years of fulfilled existence.
Recognizing the pivotal role of the Civil Service workforce as the driving force behind the government, Hon. Ukobot stressed the importance of keeping them motivated for optimal performance. He highlighted his personal connection to the civil service through his family and underscored its significance in human development.
Setting the tone for the event earlier in the day, the Director of Administration and General Duties, Mr. Afahide Uboh, said that the council is on a new pedestal and called everyone to join the changing trend. In his words; “Ibiono Ibom is now a place people seek to copy and want to come to. This cannot be done without a catalyst. This has been personified by our performing Transition Chairman, who finds the staff worthy of being celebrated. The Governor started the Happy Hour trend and the Chairman has keyed into it by celebrating his staff.” He thanked the Head of Service and all the management staff who made the event a success.
Mrs. Rita Ekwere, the Head of Local Government Service, lauded Hon. Ukobot’s remarkable leadership and achievements, extending goodwill to the celebrants and urging them to appreciate every opportunity to celebrate life.
The event also featured the recognition of retirees, including Mrs. Ime Akpan, who received cash donations, and former Youth Corp Member, Mrs. Nnenwogo Umoren, rewarded for her dedication with cash donations and a thoughtful gift for the Council.
The celebration culminated in cake cutting, prayers, cash donations, and joyful camaraderie, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees. The Chairman, transition committee members, management staff, and selected employees were present to partake in the festivities.
