Ibiono Ibom Celebrates Pre-Workers’ Day: Hon. Ukobot Honors Past Chairmen, Awards Outstanding Staff

Ibiono Ibom Council came alive with a flurry of fun-filled activities yesterday, as the Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Nsikanabasi Ukobot, spearheaded a grand pre-Workers’ Day celebration. The event saw past Chairmen recognized for their contributions to the development of the Local Government Area and staff commended for their exemplary service.

Hon. Ukobot lauded the staff’s improved service delivery since taking office and vowed to continue supporting, encouraging, and motivating them. On behalf of the past chairmen, he made a generous cash donation of 500,000 to the local branch of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE).

The event featured informative health talks, traditional performances, sports competitions, and the official launch of a model farm initiative. Speakers, including the Director of Health, Mrs. Esther Udo, and the Head of Local Government Service, Mrs. Rita Ekwere, praised Hon. Ukobot’s leadership and the administration’s commitment to staff welfare.

The NULGE Chairman, Comrade Ikopima Philip, expressed gratitude for the administration’s success. At the same time, the Pioneer Chairman, Hon. Chief Ukoko, commended the Transition Chairman’s developmental strides built on the foundations laid by past chairmen.

The pre-Workers’ Day celebration at Ibiono Ibom Council underscored the administration’s dedication to recognizing and rewarding the hard work of its staff, setting the stage for an even more vibrant Workers’ Day commemoration.

The event featured several colorful activities, including ballads, drama, traditional dances, football, races, inter-departmental match pasts, and the official flagging off of planting seedlings in the model farms. The Department of Health took the lead in all the games.

Among other invited guests, were all the past council chairmen or their representatives, the Paramount Ruler, all the transition committee members, and the staff of Ibiono Local Government Area.
