In a heartfelt service marked by worship, devotion, and community support, Mrs. Itoro Emmanuel Ibiok, wife of Commissioner 2 of the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Elder Otuekong Emmanuel Ibiok, was ordained as a Deaconess at United Evangelical Church,(Founded as Qua Iboe Church) Ikot Okpudo, in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area. The ordination service drew dignitaries from across the state, including esteemed church leaders, Local Government officials, and colleagues who joined the Commissioner in celebrating this significant milestone for his family.
Following her ordination, Deaconess Itoro Emmanuel Ibiok expressed profound gratitude, pledging renewed loyalty, obedience, and commitment to God’s work. Her dedication, she stated, would serve as a cornerstone for both her family and her new role within the church, as she strives to honor the responsibilities entrusted to her by her faith.
Reverend U.M. Akpan, who delivered the sermon on the topic, “Refuse to be Nicholas; Rather be King Josiah,” drew parallels from the life of King Josiah, urging Christians to rid themselves of vices and idolatry that detract from the faith. “As believers, we must stand firm against unholy practices,” he emphasized, referencing Acts 6:1-6. Rev. Akpan encouraged the congregation to remain faithful, to expose ill doctrines, and to be ready to reform the church, reminding all that God rewards those who wholeheartedly surrender to His will.
In a special charge to the newly ordained Deaconess, Rev. Akpan highlighted the importance of humility, submission, and unwavering dedication to God’s work. “Let your service reflect the nature of a virtuous woman,” he exhorted, advising her to embody the humility and commitment that would uplift her role within the church.
The service also featured a fundraising segment aimed at supporting key church projects, underscoring the community’s dedication to expanding and strengthening church programs. This initiative was met with enthusiastic participation from both church members and dignitaries, reflecting a collective commitment to growth and outreach within the faith community.
The grand ordination service featured musical offerings from the church and LGSC choirs, this community united in songs of praise, offerings, and prayers, blessed the ordained and her family.
In their separate goodwill messages, Nsit Ubium House Member Hon. Barr. Otobong Bob, The Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Rt. Hon. Monday Eyo, and Nsit Ubium Council Chairman, Hon. Alfred Charles commended Deaconess Itoro’s dedication to God and her support for Elder Otuekong Emmanuel Ibiok. They emphasized that her new role testified to the strength of faith within the family. Other dignitaries, including LG Council chairmen, directors, and various Heads of Local Government Councils, expressed similar sentiments, praising the couple’s shared commitment to service in both church and community.
