The Supervisor for Works and Housing, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council Elder UbongAbasi Equot, on behalf of the Political Leader and the good people of Ward 1, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, heartily felicitate with the Transition Committee Chairman, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Sir John Cleton, and the entire Ikot Ekpene people on the occasion of the 73rd Anniversary of the premier Local Government Area.
It attests to our rich history that the first-ever election into the office of chairman in Ikot Ekpene was held on 11 April 1951. This date stands as a beacon of our democratic journey and is significant and remarkable in the polity of nations.
Today, the first experimental Local Government in British West Africa is celebrating her 73rd year of existence with incredible achievements ranging from the rich cultural heritage to infrastructural development and lots more.
As a mother who has given birth to numerous Local Government Areas in Nigeria, I celebrate history, unity, and harmonious coexistence.
