Peoples Democratic Party, Ikot Ekpene Urban Ward 1, joined other wards across the State for the quarterly party meeting at Methodist Central School, Anwa Udo Akai (the ward centre) on Saturday, 30th March 2024. The quarterly party meeting was initiated by the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, as part of his campaign, promises to frequently interface with people at the grassroots to Propagate Government Programmes and foster sustainable development in the rural areas.
Speaking at the event, the political leader of Ikot Ekpene Urban Ward 1, Hon.Engr. Etido Inyang appreciated God and everyone for their successful turnout at the event. He especially expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of the state, who, in line with his ARISE Agenda, has made some remarkable achievements within 10 months in office. The party leader, however, enumerated the State government’s programmes, including the construction of Spring Road, Ikot Ekpene, which had been in a deplorable state for a long, flag off of the Food Security Programme of Bulk Purchase Agency with the presentation of food vouchers to the vulnerable members of the society, Elderly Initiative, Appointments of sons and daughters of Ikot Ekpene to key positions in the state, to mention but a few.
Speaking further, Engr. Inyang applauded the achievements of the Transition Committee Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council, Sir John Cleton Etim, who has keyed into the Governor’s Arise Initiative by constructing a new Council’s Marriage Registry, which is nearing completion, renovating of Abbatoir, procurement of about 20 hectares of land for Model Agricultural farming, training of youths on various entrepreneurial developments and skills acquisition, provision of office furniture for the council, etc.
The high points of the event were the reception of “decampees” from other political parties to the Peoples Democratic Party, empowerment/support for party faithful, and goodwill messages by good-spirited party members.
The former Caretaker Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Hon. David Umana; the former Vice Chairmen of the Council, Hon. Emmanuel Ernest, Obong Dr Ekerette Udom, and Hon. Udeme Robert Ekanem; Transition Committee Member, Hon Ubong Equot, PA to the Governor representing Ward 1., were in attendance.
Others were the Chapter Vice Chairman of PDP Mr. Victor Udoetok, PDP Party Chairman, ward 1, Obong Elder Aniedi Akang, ward Executives, and other party faithfuls.
