The Transition Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Hon. NsikakAbasi Ukobot, led members of the Transition Committee to a special Thanksgiving Service organised by the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Ibiono Ibom Branch.
The event, which took place today, 22nd January 2024, at the council hall, had as its theme “It is Good to Give Thanks,” taken from Psalms 95:1- 5.
During Thanksgiving, the Chairman thanked God for His faithfulness and help enjoyed by all in the local government throughout the past year and prayed for a better 2024.
Describing himself as a child of grace, Hon. Ukobot ascribed his success to God Almighty, Who, he said, was the author and the finisher of his faith.
For him, the physical is determined by the spiritual. Thus, he called on all to trust in God, Who alone knows how to make a way where there seems to be no way because He will never stop the projects of their lives halfway.
In his words, “Fear not! Whatever you see in your life today is designed to take you to where God has destined you to be.”
Earlier in her remarks, the Head of Local Government Service, Mrs Rita Ekwere, thanked God for keeping all the staff alive, helping in the smooth administration of the council, and the effective political leadership from the transition committee. She called on the staff to, in addition to their “thanks”, “give” as a sign of appreciation to God for His benevolence to them.
The Chairman, NULGE, Ibiono Ibom Chapter, Comrade Ikopimo Philip, thanked God with her Executives for the opportunity to serve and the grace they have enjoyed so far.
Earlier in his sermon, the representative of the CAN Chairman, Ibiono Ibom Chapter, Rev. Lawrence Etim, said that thanksgiving to God will make Him happy to do more. He charged the staff to thank God with one heart so that He would lift the council to an enviable height.
The event featured staff testimonies and prayers for the Local, State, and Federal governments.
The Vice Chairman, the Dean of Supervisors, supervisors, the Directors, and members of the staff were in attendance.
