The Executive Chairman of Okobo Local Government Council, Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Dr. Sylvester Attah has been cleared by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to contest in the Wednesday, May 18, 2022, State House of Assembly Primaries.
The Chairman was cleared alongside 8 others vying for the ticket of the People’s Democratic Party to succeed Rt. Hon. Felicia Bassey, the incumbent member representing Okobo State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, come 2023
His words, “I am seeking an advanced platform to further facilitate the development of Okobo State Constituency in both human and material forms, through quality legislation and representation at the State level.”
This explains the launch of my new campaign catchword, ‘SERVICE Plus,’ a few years after I sought and got my people’s mandate to be council chairman with ‘SERVICE’ as my mantra.”
Outstanding track record of human capacity development
Dr. Attah’s track record and academic attainment have given his aspiration an edge over other aspirants in the 2023 Okobo State Constituency election.
“In one year and six months as the Executive Chairman of Okobo Local Government Council, I have Paid business grants to over 60 women and vulnerable widows. Drilled borehole & water reticulation at the Council Secretariat., Recovered & repaired the Council-owned Toyota Prado (Land Cruiser). Paid N125,000 grant to individual Nigerian Law School students. Provided a brand new generator to preserve immunization vaccines at the Central Health Centre. “
“Strategic crisis management and peace initiatives to end communal clashes between Okopedi & Amamong and resolve the dispute between Ube & Obufi villages. Payment of medical bills and grants to victims of violent communal clashes.
Donation of brand new power generator to the NIMC to enhance NIN registration.”
” Overhauled and maintained moribund generator to ensure adequate power supply at the Council Headquarters.
Approval & payment of over N2 million fresh & backlog of financial aid to staff of the Unified Local Government Service (ULGS) and financial assistance to parents/students of higher institutions to cater for school fees.- Payment of business grants to over 60 women and vulnerable widows among other human-centric projects executed by my administration within this short period.”
