As measures towards strengthening the Local Government Areas in Nigeria, a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Abuja in conjunction with the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Akwa Ibom State, yesterday Thursday, 22nd July 2021 visited Udung Uko LGC.

The Leader of the Delegation, Engr Kayode Adebayo representing the Hon. Minister, George Akume reiterated the Ministry’s commitment towards ensuring that the allocation is properly utilized.

He said that none utilization of the allocation in the Local Government has caused the migration of Nigerian Youths from Local communities to Urban Cities in search of greener Pastures thereby increases the crime rate in the society.

He believes, if Local Government Areas are properly strengthened and empowered, there will be a great harvest

Receiving the Team, the Executive Chairman, Udung Uko Local Government Area, Hon Prince Atanang Osung expressed satisfaction towards the timely visits, while commending the proactive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, HE Udom Emmanuel, Father of industrialization and his role model

He conducted the Team round Council Projects and attributed the successes so far recorded to Teamwork with other sections of his cabinet while reeling out achievements recorded in the last seven (7) months of his administration.

Dredged Usung beach,
Graded Access Road to the Council Secretariat,
Established two (2) additional Classrooms at Eyo Atai and Edikor ,Eyobiosio.
*Revamped the internally generated Revenue
Provided social amenities like a toilet for Staff,
Remodeled of Skill acquisition Centre and National Open University Study Centre,
giving Scholarship to indigenes to study in different Universities.,
Bought Jamb forms for One Hindered and six (106) persons.,
Embarked on Empowerment Programme for Women, such as sewing machines, grinding machines, and Cash incentives.

He further maintained that even with the lean resources, the project must go on, “if you cannot utilize the little you are given, you will not, when much is provided”.
