In his determination to provide a conducive work environment for staff of Uyo Local Government council and bring speedy development to the people of Uyo Local Government Area, the executive chairman, Uyo Local Government Area, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo has again proven his commitment to people oriented projects with the completion of the state-of-the-art administrative block at the council Secretariat.
In less than two months of his assumption of duties, Dr Udo began the construction of the new staff Administrative block, reminding us that public office is a call for selfless service to the people.
Dr. Udo had said he was determined to provide a comfortable work environment for staff and management of the council and will put his best to make sure the Administrative block was completed.
Speaking in his office shortly after the tour of the council Secretariat, Udo noted that his administration will continue to work towards infrastructure development and that he was focused in delivering on his five point agenda of Healthcare, Human capacity building, Agriculture, Education, and Rural Areas Development.
The newly constructed administrative block was first conceived by the administration of the immediate past executive chairman, Uyo Local Government council, Hon. Elder Imoh Okon.
Though this project was hurriedly abandoned by the Imoh Okon’s led Government, the hopes of staff was immediately renewed and trust restored when the new administration led by Dr. Uwemedimo Udo declared willingness to give the council Secretariat a facelift while creating an enabling work environment for the staff.
It is quite true the saying that “Government is a Continuum”, but this can only be possible where a leader placed service above self, only then can productivity manifest as the result of commitment to excellence.
It will not be unusual to say that Uyo Local Government Area is currently experiencing “Rains of Projects”, as the Executive Chairman of Uyo local government council, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, has initiated other remarkable projects within and outside the council Secretariat.
Having received a report by the Director of Health, Grace Udo indicating there was no supply of water for the health facility.
Dr. Udo through his exemplary leadership, had ensured that there was provision of water supply to the health facility four days after his resumption of office.
Dr. Udo who spoke during his tour of the Primary Health Care Center, located at Barracks Road, Uyo, said:
“It is my duty and responsibilities to ensure that staff and patients who visit this facility have a good environment to operate and seek for healthcare services”
Dr Udo had also taken steps towards rural development with roads grading in Etoi, Ikono and Ifa Ikot Okpon, Uyo Local Government Area. This efforts by the executive chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, was to ensure that roads in rural communities are accessible for residents.
According to the Uyo council boss:
“The Council’s intervention in grading of the community roads will help members of the area to access the city center, carry out their businesses with ease, and equally ease means of transportation often experience especially during rainy seasons.”
The Council boss had also taken steps to boost power supply and improve security within the council Secretariat with the installations of a brand new transformer and Solar system security lights within and around the council Secretariat.
The solar system lights will improve the ambience of the Secretariat as well as enhance security at Nights. While issues of epileptic power supply that has ravaged the council for decades will finally be a thing of the past with the brand new transformer provided by Dr Uwemedimo Udo.
For management and staff of Uyo Local Government Council, these is indeed unprecedented in the history of the council. And it is their expectations that these projects will impact and improve their performance at work.
Dr Uwemedimo Udo is indeed Service Alone.
