Barely ninety Eight days in office as the Executive chairman, Uruan Local Government Council, Hon (Surv) Iniobong Ekpenyong has demonstrated that he came prepared to deliver dividends of democracy to his people.

Hon Ekpenyong is fast coasting home his avowed resolved as contained in his seven points agenda by embarking on a good number of life touching projects in Uruan local Government Area.

The list of projects so far undertaken by Hon (Surv) Iniobong Ekpenyong’s administration include; grading of more than forty number of roads in the thirteen wards of the Local Government. These roads according to the leader of 7th Uruan Legislative Council Hon Sunday Bassey were nominations of the thirteen Councillors of Uruan Legislative Council.

The Council boss within one week in office replaced the stolen council’s sumo water pump, replaced broken water pipes and fixed faulty split unit air conditioner, Fans, office chairs, curtains and lighting points in the Executive Chairman’s Office. The office of the Vice Chairman and that of the secretary were not left out as their split unit air conditioners got repaired and offices furnished. Faulty electrical accessories were also replaced in other offices including the council hall.

Aside from the grading of the Council’s entrance /access road, the council helmsman also gave the council Secretariat a face-lift by painting the entrance gate and the secreteriat blocks and also sand filled key water-locked portions in the council secreteriat.

Hon Ekpenyong’s administration as a Metter of urgent need intervened in the building of a single block of three class rooms with two offices and a toilet facility at Comprehensive High School, Idu.

The chairman who is aware that secondary school is the state government’s responsibility said he cannot pretend and look the other way while Uruan children are stuffed in hundreds in a small space.

Comprehensive Secondary School, Idu was before September 5th, 2018 a community Secondary School with three classrooms blocks of about 8 rooms with offices that were spacious enough to contain the students population. It was managed by Idu Community. The taking over of the school by Government of Akwa Ibom State increased the students population to more than one thousand six hundred students in the school thereby forcing the school authority to quiz students in hundreds in one class room.

The chairman had stopped by the school on his way to work and seen some students clustered under mango trees for lessons. This moved the chairman to intervene by building a single block of 3 class rooms pending the time the state government will build more.

Hon. (Surv) Iniobong Ekpenyong is determined to speak to the people of Uruan through live – changing projects.
