The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Akwa Ibom State, Comrade Elder Sunny James, has called on all workers in Akwa Ibom State to take their work seriously noting that job opportunities are rather scarced in the society.
Elder James dropped this admonishion today, Monday 3rd May 2020 during the 2021 World Press Freedom Day organized by AKS Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists at NUJ Press Centre, Uyo.
Comrade James said those already privileged to get a job should be thankful to God considering the scarcity of job in our society.

by the gruesome murder of Miss Iniubong Umoren while in search of work and would therefore admonish those that are privileged to work to take it serious and be thankful to God” Elder James charges.
The elder Comrade in his goodwill message at the event further appealed to the state government and relevant authorities to follow the abduction, raping and murdering case of the late Miss Iniobong Umoren to the later and make sure that all involved are punished accordingly.
He however, commended comrade Amos Etuk’s leadership style that has repositioned NUJ in the state and congratulated the union for picking the first Position in March past during the 2021 May Day celebration in the state.
Comrade James therefore used the event to thank the Akwa Ibom State Government for paying gratuity to the retired primary school teachers and respective next-of-kin in the state.
While urging AKS Government to be sincere in the ongoing employment of Primary School teachers in the state, he pleaded that the process should not be dragged for too long.
He concluded that NLC in the state will continue to interface with Akwa Ibom State Government to ensure that the welfare of workers in the state is given priority.
