…Distributes School Sandals, Takes Salute from 158 Schools
Nsit Ibom Local Government Area celebrated the 2025 Children’s Day in grand style on May 27. The Executive Chairman, Rt. Hon. Otobong Aaron led the festivities and strongly reaffirmed her administration’s unwavering commitment to education and child welfare.
Speaking at the colourful event, Hon. Aaron, who delivered the Governor’s goodwill message, described Children’s Day as more than just an annual tradition. “It is a day to renew our dedication to building a brighter, more secure future for our children,” she stated, echoing the Governor’s emphasis on investing time and resources into children’s lives.
Highlighting the state’s education-forward agenda, the Governor’s message also revealed that construction of model secondary schools, equipped with world-class facilities, staff quarters, and ICT centres, will soon commence across all three senatorial districts of Akwa Ibom.
In her remarks, Hon. Otobong Aaron reaffirmed her administration’s resolve to make education a top priority. She marked the occasion by distributing school sandals to pupils from schools across the local government, symbolizing her commitment to improving access to quality education and student welfare.
The Chairman stood proudly at the dais as she took the salute from over 158 participating schools during the impressive march-past ceremony. Thunderous cheers erupted as Unity Model College, Obo Ntong, was announced overall winner in the secondary category. Lutheran Primary School, Afaha Offiong, took first place in the primary division, while QIC Nursery and Primary School, Obo Ntong Ikot Idem, emerged top in the nursery school category.
Commending all the schools for their outstanding performances, Hon. Aaron also presented prizes to the runners-up in each category, encouraging a spirit of excellence and healthy competition among the young learners.
The lively event featured a blend of music, dance, cultural displays, and a ceremonial cutting of the Children’s Day cake, further enriching the celebratory mood.
The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including the Member Representing Nsit Ibom State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eric Akpan, Vice Chairman of Nsit Ibom, Hon. Udeme Philip, Council Secretary, Hon. Iyakndue Unaam, Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Nsikak, current and former political office holders, serving Councillors and supervisors, among others.
