URUEOFFONG/ORUKO: Chief Uno Delivers Ultra-Modern Teachers’ Quarters

Rt. Hon. (Chief) Uno Etim Uno, Chairman of Urue Offong/Oruko LGA

The Executive Chairman of Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Uno Etim Uno, JP, has delivered two fully furnished, solar-powered teachers’ quarters at Government Primary School, Oyoku Ibighi, and Government School, Eyulor. The milestone project was commissioned on Friday, May 16, 2025, by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong.

Governor Eno, through his representative, lauded Chief Uno for his visionary leadership and faithful execution of the ARISE Agenda, describing him as a model local government administrator and a dependable ambassador of the State Executive Council. “I commend Chief Uno for delivering this life-enhancing project,” he declared. “He understands our administration’s philosophy and is replicating our model of providing teachers’ quarters, which we believe enhances teacher effectiveness and morale.”

Addressing guests at the event, Chief Uno underscored the deeply personal nature of the project, recounting his own upbringing in teachers’ quarters as the son of an educator. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-oriented projects, highlighting the modern amenities in the buildings, including solar power, constant water supply, and tasteful furnishings. “Teachers deserve comfort,” he said. “We are committed to prioritizing their welfare and building the foundation for a more productive education system.”

The commissioning ceremony drew notable dignitaries from across the state, including Rt. Hon. Mrs. Precious Selong of the State House of Assembly, NPC Federal Commissioner Engr. (Chief) Benedict Ukpong, former House of Representatives member, Rt. Hon. Sir Esio Oquong Udoh, the Paramount Ruler, Offong Efiong Matthew Unanaowo, and the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Asukwo Edet Osung. All commended the initiative as one of the most impactful local government projects since the creation of the LGA in 1991.

Head teachers of the benefiting schools expressed heartfelt appreciation for Chief Uno, noting that the new facilities would enhance their well-being and inspire greater dedication to duty. They pledged to maintain the quarters and sustain the educational progress being witnessed in the LGA.

Also in attendance were the Council Vice Chairman, Hon. Arit Ambit, Leader of the Legislative Council Hon. Sunday Eyo, Council Secretary Mr. Amana Henshaw, and PDP Chapter Chairman Hon. Pastor Tom Dante Efombruh, among others.

The event marked another high point in Chief Uno Etim Uno’s administration, which continues to earn accolades for prioritizing impactful development, community welfare, and the advancement of education across Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area.
