The Nigerian Society for Chemical Engineers (NSChE) Akwa/Cross Chapter held its Annual Dinner and Awards Night on Friday, December 6, 2024, in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital.
The annual event saw dignitaries from all walks of life join members of the NSChE to mark excellence and impactful initiatives.
Speaking at the event, the Chapter Chairman, Engr Ikemesit Orok, highlighted the Chapter’s lofty achievements and outlined plans for the coming year.
Earlier, The Chairman of the Occasion, Engr Chief Augustine Ukpong, while declaring the event open, commended the NSChE, Akwa/Cross Chapter for being thoughtful to put up an impactful event, encouraged members to continue to show commitment to the Chapter and praised their dedication to excellence.
The Annual Dinner and Awards Night featured an insightful discussion on the theme for the 2024 edition, “Enabling Energy: Optimizing Oil and Gas Policy for Enhanced Efficiency and Job Creation” by Prof Esang Esitikot, a member of the Chapter.
The event’s high point was the Induction of 24 New Members into the NSChE Awka/Cross Chapter, performed by Engr Babalola who led the inductees into the oath-taking rites followed by the presentations of membership certificates.
The event also witnessed the presentations of the Award of Excellence to deserving Nigerians, including sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom State, in recognition of philanthropic works, and various achievements and impacts in the Energy, oil and gas sectors.
To encourage academic excellence, the NSChE, Akwa/Cross Chapter, also gave out scholarships to students from the University of Uyo and Akwa Ibom State University, respectively, who have excelled academically in their different fields.
Cash prizes were equally handed to pupils from secondary Schools who emerged winners in the just concluded quiz competition held during the week by NSChE.
Notable at the event were Archbishop Senator Helen Esuene, Pastor Andrew-Essien Uwem Sunday, Accountant General, Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Itorobong Etim, Member representing Uruan State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Engr. Chief Augustine Ukpong, FNSE, General Manager Projects, Oilserv Limited, and Engr. (Dr.) Wisdom Enang amongst others.
