IBESIKPO ASUTAN LG EMBARKS ON GBV MARKET SENSITISATION

… First Lady Harps on Moral Decorum

The First Lady of Ibesikpo Asutan LG. And coordinator of the Gender-Based Violence Initiative, Mrs. Edidiong Inyang has called on parents in the Local Government to join in the fight against gender-based violence in their respective communities. 

The First Lady, flanked by the Council’s Vice Chairman, Mrs. Goodness Obot led other members of the IBESIKPO GBV Unit on a market sensitization to the popular Afaha Market. 

Speaking at the awareness event, Mrs Glory Edidiong thanked the women for their warm reception and assured them that eradication of gender-based Violence is a panacea for healthy living. 

“Make no mistake in educating and bringing awareness to your children especially the male on the danger of rape on the integrity of the girl child because it is a menace to society ” she warned. 

The Chairman’s wife equally charged the women to be alert in the discharge of their duties at home as Godly and respectable housewives. 

The Vice Chairman, Mrs Goodness Obot appealed to the women not to hesitate to report any culprit of gender-based Violence to the government and appropriate authorities for necessary penalties while urging the women to always support the government in her drive to ameliorate the occurrence among young men and women by always sounding the warning in every nooks and crannies. 

Also speaking, the immediate past Chapter Women Leader of PDP in the area, Mrs. Idongesit Ubong urged men to always give deep respect to women by respecting where their rights start and end in sexual dealings. 

The state representative of GBV, Mrs Ubong Ante, reiterated her team’s sworn responsiveness to every reported GBV case. She emphasized that the sledgehammer will not cease to descend on any culprit. 

The session broke into dancing where the best dancers got consolation prizes from the GBV coordinator, Mrs Glory Edidiong as well as distribution of selling aprons to the elated women who all vowed to preach the gospel of ending the dreaded monster called gender-based Violence. 

In a post-event response, the Executive Chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan local government area, Rt. Hon. Evangelist Edidiong Inyang thanked the women for taking on the task of ending Gender-Based abnormality and assured them of his administration’s unwavering support for the exercise’s success. 

Among those present at the event were the SSA on Humanitarian Services to the Executive Chairman, Mr. Idot-enyin Thomas, erstwhile Chapter women Leaders which included Mrs. Patricia Umondia, Obonganwan Ime Orok and the incumbent Obonganwan Anyinime Orok among others
