In the spirit of Christmas, the Executive Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Asuakak Umoh has declared a one-month ticket-free period in all markets.
The free ticketing period which is enforced in Ikpa, Ikot Ambang, Afua and Okopedi Use Markets commenced on 1st December 2024 and will terminate on 31st December 2024
The Chairman said the initiative, is part of his administration’s commitment to alleviate the financial burden on the traders in the Area amid the Christmas Celebrations
He said, I understand the economy is biting, which is why my administration has decided to put on hold ticketing in all the markets in Ibiono Ibom for one month. I hope this gesture will put smiles on the faces of our market men and women during this festive period.
The Chairman urged the people to report any person or group flouting the free market ticketing directive to the council authority.
In a Press Release earlier issued by Akparawa George U, on behalf of the Chairman of the Council, the appointment of all Markets Agents handling revenue collection duties in the affected markets is officially terminated and they are directed to return all official Revenue documents in their custody to the council’s Director of Finance and Supplies within 24 hours.
