The Executive Chairman of Udung Uko Local Government Area, Hon Elder Godwin Okponung has reiterated his commitment to leaving behind a legacy of executing projects that are impactful to his people. He made this declaration while laying the foundation for a new Legislative block at the Council Secretariat, Eyofin Udung Uko LGA on Wednesday, November 20,2024.
In his remarks,” we are gathered today as witnesses to the groundbreaking of a new Legislative building, do not want to do it alone but deemed it fit to invite someone who has been there before me, the House Member representing Oron/ Udung Uko State Consistency in Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Rt. hon. Chief Kenim Onofiok to be part of the success story.
I thank you for accepting to be part of this epoch-making event.”
Highlighting the achievements of his administration to include restoration of electricity, restoration of abandoned health Centre at Eyotai with fantastic facilities,award of Scholarships to some deserving students ,road constructions and many more.
To attract development,he said,all the ten wards will be attended to.
The Chairman pledged a commitment to further foster unity by introducing the Chairman’s Unity Cup in football and also bring development among his people. Adding that,no Society can grow without peace, this is not the time to fight but unite, put food on the table and eat together as a people.
Rt. Hon. Kenim expressed delight at the pragmatic leadership of Hon. Okponung and also being involved in the magnitude of the event. She commended the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno PhD for his visionary leadership, whose aim is to make sure everything in the ARISE Agenda is replicated in the thirty- one local government area of Akwa Ibom State.
While advising the Councillors to make use of the Office for the purpose of which it is meant for; carrying out their duties of making laws that will favour their constituents ,pass and amend laws and other oversight functions. Not forgetting their social responsibility of being a voice to their local government / wards and also displaying effective representation.
In their separate remarks,the Chairman,Elders Forum,Chief Asuquo Idung,former Vice Chairman of Udung Uko LGA,Hon. Nkereuwem Ekung and President General of Udung Uko Union,Dr. Mrs.Mercy Ita Effiong applauded the chairman for giving life to Udung Uko People and ask he do more to make sure everyone is carried along.
Delivering a vote of thanks, the PDP Chapter Chairman of Udung Uko , Barr. Godwin Etta commended the active involvement of the Chairman to his constituents and disclosed positive measures that could be adopted for a successful administration.

Patience Umoh, Councillors, Head of Local Government Service( HOLGS) for Udung Uko LGA, Director of Administration and General Services Mrs Barbara Etuk, Director of Finance and Supplies, Mr Okon Odusip, Director of Works and housing, Pastor Anietie Etito( in custody of the Master Plan) , Director of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Apostle Friday George, former Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Councillors, Stake holder, elders and PDP Woman leader.
